About Us

The Bend Genealogical Society (fondly known as BGS)

BGS has been serving family historians in Bend, Deschutes County, Oregon, since 1993.

OUR MISSION

To provide resources for researching, teaching, exchanging
and preserving records of family history.

The BGS program year runs from September through May, when we offer monthly program meetings, interest groups, special workshops and classes, and other special events. Since so many people are traveling during the summer, regular activities do not occur, but watch for special BGS happenings.

Our Genealogical Library is open during the summer, so you can use it for research year around.

Our focus is all genealogists, beginning and experienced researchers alike. There is no requirement for experience or credentials to participate in BGS activities.

We believe that the greatest part about helping someone else work their way up a difficult hill is finding yourself closer to the top, too! We value helping each other achieve family research goals.

The Bend Genealogical Society is incorporated as a non-profit organization
in the State of Oregon and is an approved charitable and tax-exempt organization
under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code.
