At 10 AM (Pacific Time) on Tues, January 28th, 2025  ZOOM ONLY !   Are you interested in how DNA is being used in criminal investigations and what is next? Then join us for Raising the Dead: An Overview of Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy. Presenter Wendi Babst will give an overview of the process of Forensic Genetic Genealogy (FIGG) and she will discuss some examples of where this process has been used to solve long cold cases. She will also cover legal and ethical considerations surrounding the use of FIGG and some of the recent advances in this exciting field.


About Wendi Babst: Wendi Babst is a member of the Bend Genealogical Society and is a  current member of the Leadership Council. Since retiring from over 30 years as a law enforcement professional, she has pursued an education in genealogy with a focus on Genetic Genealogy. In 2023, she completed the Forensic Genetic Genealogy graduate certificate program at the University of New Haven. Wendi recently retired from her second career as an adjunct instructor of criminal justice courses at two Oregon community colleges and is looking forward to spending more time on genealogical investigations
