► First – Local records for Deschutes County at the courthouse in Bend or the BGS Genealogical Library. Local records could be land sales and deeds (records start in 1871); early marriages (records start on 13 Dec 1916); or something else you suggest that we might be able to find locally.
Cost for one hour of research is a donation of $15.00, plus any fee(s) that we may incur at county office(s) to obtain record(s). Additional hours of research are $10.00/hour.
We will discuss additional hours of research with you before proceeding. Court records usually takes extra time to research, plus usually take more time to obtain, if located.
Please give us as much information as you can, such as names, dates, etc., about your lookup request for records.
If you're looking for a marriage record, the name of at least the groom or the bride must be known.
► Second – Newspaper obituaries that may have appeared in the Bend Bulletin or the Redmond Spokesman.
Include the deceased's name, including nickname(s), date of death, and anything else, such as name(s) of relatives, etc.
We cannot guarantee that a newspaper obituary was placed, but we will search several days before and after the date of death. If we stumble across another mention of your ancestor during the search, we'll share that with you, too.
Cost for each obituary search is a donation of $5.00, whether we find the obituary or not. If we do not find an obituary, that gives you some information, as well.
► Payment – We will communicate the results of all lookups and the final cost. Once we receive the payment via a donation, we will email or mail (upon request) the records or obituaries we found for you.
