The series of five workshops are NOT lectures, but rather are hands-on learning in a workshop format. In-person participants should bring their laptops and be able to log-into their DNA account(s) with WiFi in the Hall. Tablets & iPads are not encouraged, unless the user is proficient in using them.
Zoom participants might want to have a tab open in their browser for their DNA account, so they can view it while on Zoom.
The focus of the workshops is using DNA websites effectively to advance your genealogical research. Gary will share multiple examples from his DNA accounts, as well as ask for examples from participants. Zoom participants can enter questions or make comments in Chat.
Bring your comments and questions about using DNA websites. Each Workshop should be lively with questions, discussion, and participants sharing their use of DNA websites.

Meet Gary!
Your Workshop Host
Gary Putnam is a Past President of BGS, and has been reseaching his and his wife's family, and helping other genealogists for over 63+ years. His father's line goes back to the Mayflower and he is a member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. His mother's parents immigrated from Greece and he has researched in villages in Greece. DNA has been important in his Greek research.
Participants are encouraged to attend as many of the sessions, as possible, even if you haven't tested with a particular company.
Gary remarks that each company has unique features that are helpful for different aspects of genealogical research. Participants may learn new ways of research by learning about a company, where they have NOT tested.
